Laura Berman

Bio

Laura Berman creates images that describe multiplictity, collections and sequences. The things she collects and lives with inspire her, and there is a focus on color, pattern and layers of imagery in her work.

She has created site-specific exhibitions and exhibited her print work at numerous galleries and museums around the country and internationally, including Aspen Art Museum (Aspen, CO), Círculo del Arte (Barcelona, Spain), Dalarnas Museum (Falun, Sweden), Long View Gallery, (Washington D.C.), and Boise Art Museum (Boise, ID). Berman has been a visiting artist at over 25 institutions internationally and has worked as an artist-in-residence at Frans Masereel Centrum (Kasterlee, Belgium), Pele Prints (St. Louis, MO), Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (New York City, NY) and Anderson Ranch Arts Center (Snowmass Village, CO) among many other places.

Laura Berman is an Associate Professor at the Kansas City Art Institute, where she has taught in the Printmaking Department since 2002. She received her BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and her MFA from Tulane University. Her work has been featured in The Book of Probes by David Carson/Marshall McLuhan, Printmaking at the Edge by Richard Noyce, A Survey of Contemporary Printmaking, by Ehlers, Ehlbeck and Muise, and American Print Makers by Stephanie Standish/Ashley E Rooney.
