Shane Lutzk

Bio

Shane Lutzk is a unique ceramic artist. At the age of nine, he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, and much of his work depicts his struggle with this disease. Lutzk wants to bring both the ramifications and the positive outcomes that come from diabetes to the public's attention. His monumental works are included in both public and private collections.

Lutzk completed his BFA in ceramics at the Kansas City Art Institute in 2014. Lutzk earned his Master of Fine Arts at Arizona State University in May of 2017. His work was recognized and he received awards for his ceramics. In the summer of 2017, Lutzk was a resident artist at C.R.E.T.A. ROME in Rome, Italy.

Currently, he is the Head of Ceramics at Eastern Illinois University. His work is in the collections of the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, in Kansas City, Missouri; The Ken Ferguson Teaching Collection at the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri.
