Grace Sachi Troxell explores an elegy to material remembrance and the promise of the ritual of play. Through intuition and physicality the work investigates haptic experiences of urgent play, metamorphosis, sensuality, and displacement. Fiberglass, steel, and textiles shed their familiar roles to transform into a language of ruins. Grace received her BS from Skidmore College in Fine Art with a minor in Asian Studies and a Postgraduate certificate from the Glasgow School of Art in Painting. In 2017 she will be an artist-in- residence at Yaddo, MASS MoCA Studios, and The Pottery Workshop, Jingdezhen. Previous residencies include the MacDowell Colony, Byrdcliffe, the Textile Symposium at the Rothko Center in Latvia, and Dumfries House, Scotland.
